Ismaila Sarr has equaled former Nigeria’s Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa’s goalscoring feat at the World Cup after Senegal lose to Norway.
Sarr bagged a brace which, unfortunately, was not enough as Senegal fell to a 3-2 defeat in their second Group I fixture.
According to Stats Foot on X, Sarr is the first African player to score a double against a European nation at the World Cup since Ahmed Musa with Nigeria against Iceland on June 22, 2018.
Also, according to the football statistics platform, Sarr is the third player to score a brace with Senegal at the World Cup after the late Papa Bouba Diop against Uruguay on June 11, 2002, and Henri Camara against Sweden on June 16, 2002.
Sarr and his Senegal teammates suffered their second defeat at the ongoing World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Teranga Lions needed to get their campaign back on track after losing their opener to France 3-1 but went behind to a 43rd minute goal by Norway’s Marcus Pedersen.
Three minutes into the second half Erling Haaland doubled Norway’s lead before Sarr pulled a goal back for Senegal on 53 minutes.
Just five minutes after Sarr’s goal, Haaland restored his side’s two-goal lead before Sarr made it 3-2 on 93rd minute.
Senegal must now beat Iraq in their final group game to stand a chance of progressing into the round of 32.
