Manchester United and Chelsea are among the clubs said to be taking interest in Sunderland star Brian Brobbey this summer after his impressive performances at the 2026 World Cup so far.
Brobbey joined Sunderland last summer for €20 million and scored seven goals in his debut season in the Premier League before heading to the World Cup with the Netherlands, where he netted twice against Sweden.
Having enhanced his reputation on the global stage, TEAMtalk claim that Sunderland are now facing a ‘growing fight’ to keep hold of Brobbey, with the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Stuttgart said to be ‘closely monitoring’ the 24-year-old’s progress.
However, Premier League teams are also believed to be weighing up possible approaches, with United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa all named as interested parties.
Teams are said to have been impressed by Brobbey’s physical presence and pressing ability, with a belief that the Dutchman can still improve further.
Sunderland are adamant that they will not sanction a sale for their star striker this summer, having qualified for the Europa League next season, and with him tied to the club until 2029.

Of the interested Premier League teams, United have held the longest interest in Brobbey, having explored a deal for the former Ajax man under previous manager Erik ten Hag.
Brobbey’s form at Ajax eventually tailed off, which led to United’s interest cooling and Sunderland being able to swoop for a player who only netted four goals in his final league season for the Eredivisie side.
Although not their biggest priority this summer, United are keen to bring in a frontman to compete with Benjamin Sesko up front, particularly with interest reportedly developing in the Slovenian.
However, Sunderland have not set an asking price for Brobbey and are looking to tie him down to a new contract in order to keep hold of a player that they believe can play a big part in their long-term future.
While their stance could be tested by a formal offer, no official approaches have been made yet as teams continue to track Brobbey’s form at the World Cup.
