A large-scale manhunt has been launched across Germany after a baby was snatched from his pushchair overnight.
Police have deployed helicopters and drones in a bid to find the missing three-month-old boy, but say they currently have “no promising leads”.
The youngster was taken at around 11:30pm last night.
Police said the he had been left alone “for a short time” when he vanished from his pushchair in Renningen, southwest Germany. His parents then alerted officers.
They believe “an unknown person lifted the child from a stroller and took it away”.
An extensive search involving drones, helicopters, firefighters and 40 rescue dogs is now underway.
Police also confirmed that cadaver dogs, who are specially trained to sniff out decomposing bodies, are being used in the search.
With temperatures in Germany soaring above 30C this week, officers admitted “if it were helpless somewhere in this heat, it would be very bad.”
“Unfortunately, we currently have no promising leads,” police said. “We began our search at the scene of the crime and are working our way outwards in a circular pattern.
“Of course, the child could already be somewhere else entirely”.
