On May 24th, a buoyant Enugu Rangers spawned headlines all over Africa and etched their name deeper into Nigerian football history by securing the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title for a record-equalling ninth time.

There, Mbah also announced that each player would receive a plot of land in Enugu, alongside a share of ₦100 million in cash. The coaching team and management meanwhile, were awarded a further ₦50 million, bringing the total cash reward to ₦150 million.
Additional plots of land went to General Manager Amobi Ezeaku, Head Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, the club Secretary and the Assistant Coach.
Governor Mbah went on to describe the title victory as a symbol of hope and excellence, while urging the Rangers squad to “brace up, fight on, keep winning and ensure you bring the continental trophy home.”
Perhaps, most exciting was his pledge to provide continued government investment in sports infrastructure, including renovations at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium for next season’s CAF Champions League matches.
With Mbah on board, Enugu Rangers on the up and the NPFL continuing to embrace technology and raise standards, Nigerian club football could be on the cusp of an era of unprecedented growth.
