Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, has described the newly inaugurated Nigeria Netball Federation board as the most corporately structured sports federation in the country.
Speaking during the inauguration of the board, Dikko praised the federation’s organization and vision while urging its leadership to focus strongly on grassroots development.

“You must build from the bottom up,” he said.
According to the NSC chairman, the future success of netball in Nigeria will depend heavily on the federation’s ability to establish the sport firmly within schools and grassroots communities.
“Grassroots development is the key,” he implied.
Dikko stressed that sports growth must go beyond elite competitions and involve structured participation pathways for young athletes.
“The foundation matters most,” he noted.
He also challenged the federation to set ambitious long-term goals, specifically tasking them with targeting a podium finish at the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
“You should aim for medals,” he added.
For the NSC chairman, strategic planning and corporate organization can help transform netball into a competitive sport nationally and internationally.
“We want meaningful impact,” he stressed.
Dikko also highlighted the importance of clear direction and accountability within sports administration.
“Structure brings progress,” he said.
The newly formed federation now faces the challenge of turning ambition into practical development across the country.
