Renowned basketball administrator and promoter, Colonel Sam Ahmedu (retired) has poured more accolades on the latest youth development camp that was organised by former national team player, Jordan Nwora in Ilupeju, Lagos.

Sports247 reports that Ahmedu enthused that the project, which was tagged Jordan Nwora Basketball Camp, will help all the budding talents who participated in the three-day programme develop into complete players in the game.
Ahmedu, who is currently the president of Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) Africa Zone 3, added that the camp was a transformative platform capable of producing the next generation of star players across the continent.
He further explained that the project was designed to improve technical abilities of young players as well as expose them to life-changing opportunities in education and sports through scholarship opportunities within and outside Nigeria.
The basketball guru, who expressed satisfaction with the turnout, affirmed that the camp continues serving as a talent pipeline, identifying promising players and connecting them with pathways that could lead to successful professional careers.
While asserting the growing interest in basketball among Nigerian youths, Ahmedu recalled that growth was hindered during his days, due to a lack of developmental programmes and limited opportunities available to aspiring athletes.
Ahmedu stated, “When I was growing up, these opportunities simply did not exist. Many talented players never got the exposure they deserved. Today’s camps provide young athletes with access to quality coaching, mentorship and visibility.
“The response has been fantastic. Seeing so many young people eager to learn and improve is encouraging. Programmes like this help keep them focused, disciplined and committed to positive goals while pursuing their sporting dreams.
“Our mission is to teach the fundamentals, identify talent and provide opportunities. We have seen gifted youngsters from different countries, and we are determined to help them develop into complete players capable of competing at higher levels.”
