Rangers International have confirmed that the Flying Antelopes’ Head Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, will remain in charge of the club ahead of the 2026/27 domestic and continental football seasons, Completesports.com reports.
General Manager of the Coal City side, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, insisted that Ilechukwu would continue in his role as the club’s Head Coach for the 2026/27 season, saying it would be unreasonable for a club like Rangers to part company with a ‘rare breed’ of coach such as Ilechukwu.
Ilechukwu To Remain Rangers Head Coach
The Rangers boss spoke in his office at 23 Lugard Avenue, Abakaliki Road, Enugu, during his customary media parley with reporters.

The 2025/26 NPFL title is Ilechukwu’s second league crown with Rangers in three seasons, following the club’s title triumph in the 2023/24 campaign.
“I assure you all that Ilechukwu remains our coach and will continue with Rangers International,” Ezeaku told reporters.
“Ilechukwu has proved once again why he is among the best coaches we have ever seen in the history of the NPFL. Winning two titles in three years is not an easy achievement.
“So why would you want someone like that to leave after what he achieved with the team this season?”
Rangers Eye Successful 2026/27 Campaign
Although Barrister Amobi Ezeaku’s initial three-year deal with Rangers expires at the end of the 2025/26 season, sparking speculation over his future with the Coal City Flying Antelopes, he clarified that his position at the club would become clear within the next three weeks.
The Coal City Flying Antelopes will, alongside Rivers United, represent Nigeria in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League campaign.
The race for the 2025/2026 NPFL title went down to the wire, and Rangers International nicked it on the last day of the season, finishing with 68 points — one point ahead of Rivers United.
