SSA Adeboye Expresses Relief After Rivers United Accident, Says Tinubu’s Road Projects Will Reduce Such Incidents

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has expressed relief following the road accident involving players and officials of Rivers United Football Club while traveling for their President Federation Cup Round of 16 fixture against Nasarawa United.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the SSA thanked God that no lives were lost while sympathizing with players and officials who sustained minor injuries.

“We are grateful to God that there were no fatalities in this unfortunate incident involving Rivers United Football Club. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured players, officials, and the entire Rivers United family. I wish them speedy recovery and strength,” Adeboye stated.

Hon. Adeboye emphasized that the safety and welfare of athletes, coaches, and sports officials remain extremely important within Nigeria’s sports ecosystem, while also stressing the need for continuous improvements in transportation infrastructure across the country.

The SSA further noted that the ongoing road infrastructure projects being executed under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, through the Renewed Hope Agenda, would significantly help in reducing such unfortunate experiences in the future.

“Mr. President is investing heavily in road infrastructure projects across the country, and these interventions will go a long way in improving transportation safety and reducing accidents on our roads.

The Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on creating better and safer infrastructure for Nigerians.”

Adeboye also encouraged the Rivers United players and technical crew to remain strong and united despite the difficult experience.

 

“Rivers United remains one of Nigeria’s important football clubs, and the entire sports community stands with them at this moment.

We pray for quick recovery for everyone affected and safe travels always for our athletes and teams.”

The SSA reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to initiatives and policies that continue to improve the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of Nigerian athletes and sports stakeholders across the country.
