Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has admitted that Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup remains deeply disappointing despite the quality within the national team.

Speaking ahead of the Super Eagles’ international friendly against Portugal, the Trabzonspor forward described the situation as one of football’s painful realities.
“It is still disappointing that we will not be at the World Cup,” Onuachu said.
According to the striker, the Super Eagles possess enough quality and world-class talent to compete at the biggest stage in football.
“We have a squad full of quality players,” he implied.
Despite the disappointment, Onuachu admitted it always feels special reuniting with his teammates whenever he receives a national team invitation.
“It is always a great feeling coming back to the national team,” he noted.
The forward also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to compete against any country in world football.
“I believe we can compete with any team in the world,” he added.
Onuachu stressed that the Super Eagles are fully prepared to showcase their quality in the upcoming friendly match against Portugal.
“We are ready to show our strength against Portugal,” he stressed.
Nigeria continues rebuilding under coach Eric Chelle following the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup.
“The team still carries enormous talent and potential,” many football observers believe.
The Super Eagles remain focused on using the friendly matches to strengthen chemistry and tactical understanding ahead of future competitions.
“There is still belief in the direction of the team,” supporters continue to say.
For Paul Onuachu, the message is clear.
