Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle has declared that the Super Eagles will approach Wednesday’s international friendly against Poland with a winning mentality.

The coach wants the Super Eagles, three-time African champions, to maintain their impressive recent form.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash in Warsaw, Chelle insisted that his team would not treat the game as a mere exhibition encounter but as another opportunity to build a strong mentality within the squad.
“We have a team and we are preparing to go out there and win. Winning is the mentality that we are trying to create in the team, in the players. We will go for a win on Wednesday,” Chelle said.
The fixture brings back memories of the last meeting between both nations in 2018, when the Super Eagles secured a famous 1-0 victory over Poland in Wroclaw during preparations for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
On that occasion, former Chelsea winger Victor Moses scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 61st minute to hand Nigeria victory in their only senior international meeting against the Europeans.
Nigeria currently boast a perfect head-to-head record against Poland, having won their lone previous encounter, scoring once and conceding none.
The Super Eagles head into the friendly in high spirits following their recent 3-0 triumph over Jamaica to lift the Unity Cup, while Poland will be aiming to respond positively after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Ukraine in their last friendly match.
Wednesday’s encounter at the National Stadium in Warsaw is expected to provide another strong test for Chelle’s evolving squad as preparations continue for upcoming competitive fixtures.
