Super Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle is weighing his options ahead of this week’s international friendly away to Poland, and declared emphatically that he is trying to build ‘a winning culture’ in the Nigerian national team.

Sports247 reports that the Franco-Malian tactician is still beaming with delight, after his ‘second string’ side’s 3-0 thumping of Jamaica in the 2026 Unity Cup final last Saturday in London, but he is still seeking another victorious outing.
The only previous Poland/Nigeria encounter was on March 23rd, 2018, in the Eagles’ build-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the Poles lost 1-0 at Stadion Miejski we Wroclawiu in the city of Wroclaw, with Victor Moses scoring on the night.
The next outing will be this Wednesday at Stadion PGE Narodowy, in what would be a second ever clash between both nations at senior level, ahead of which Chelle drilled his players for 80 minutes on Monday, under light rain at Stadion Polinii Warsawa.
The Eagles were in buoyant mood, as captain of the side, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi led the players in their first training session in Warsaw, and the three-time African champions commenced preparations for Wednesday’s potentially-explosive friendly.
Chelle and his wards will finalise strategies for their midweek match against the White-Reds of Poland on Tuesday evening during the team’s ‘official training session,’ which will hold at the match venue – Stadion PGE Narodowy
“There is a culture of winning that we are trying to build in this team, and that mentality is important. You can say that it is difficult to have games at this time, because the players have been in holiday mood for about two weeks.
“But, the job must be done. We have 18 players in camp now, and we will work with that. Everybody must work hard and we will go into the match with the determination to win,” Chelle asserted after drilling his players.
