The Super Eagles camp in Warsaw, Poland, has received a significant boost with the arrival of defender Calvin Bassey and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, taking the number of players in camp to 20 ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly against Poland.

Bassey, who recently completed a successful season with Fulham in the English Premier League, arrived on Tuesday to become the latest player to link up with Head Coach Eric Chelle’s squad. Okoye, meanwhile, checked into camp on Monday afternoon and immediately joined his teammates in training.
The Nigerian team has been intensifying preparations for the high-profile encounter against the White-Reds of Poland, scheduled to take place at the 58,000-capacity PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on Wednesday, June 3. Kick-off is set for 7:45 p.m. Nigerian time.
With the latest arrivals, the Super Eagles now have three goalkeepers in camp — Maduka Okoye, Arthur Okonkwo and Francis Uzoho. The defensive unit includes Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Igoh Ogbu, Emmanuel Fernandez, Zaidu Sanusi and Bruno Onyemaechi.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi leads a midfield contingent comprising Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Tochukwu Nnadi and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, while the attacking options include Moses Simon, Paul Onuachu, Terem Moffi, Akor Adams, Rafiu Durosinmi and Abdullahi Ibrahim.
The June friendlies offer Chelle another opportunity to assess his squad and build cohesion ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming competitive assignments. Following the clash against Poland, the Super Eagles will travel to Portugal for a second international friendly scheduled for June 10 in Leiria.
Notably, key stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were excused from the squad to allow them adequate rest after a demanding club season, creating opportunities for other players to impress in the national team setup.
With 20 players already in camp and preparations entering the final phase, the Super Eagles will be aiming to secure a positive result against Poland as they continue their rebuilding process under Chelle.
