Slavia Prague of Czech Republic defender, Igoh Ogbu has ruled out the possibility of defeat for the Super Eagles against Jamaica in Saturday’s Unity Cup final, as he says all players in the Nigerian squad know what to do in order to get victory.

Sports247 reports that Ogbu is brewing with confidence ahead of the game at Charlton Athletic FC’s home ground, The Valley, where he pledged that the Super Eagles will go all out to ensure they retain the trophy they won last year.
Incidentally, it was also against Jamaica that Nigeria won last year’s final, thereby giving their coach, Eric Sekou Chelle his first trophy in charge of the three-time African champions, and Ogbu believes they will do it again on Saturday.
The 26-year-old stopper, who grew up in Jos, then started his career with Gombe United before joining Rosenborg of Norway in February 2018, added that it is a matter of national pride and dignity for the Super Eagles to retain the trophy.
“Now that we are in the final, we understand what we need to do. We will recover and prepare well because the reason we came here is to win and retain the title,” said Ogbu, who joined Sogndal in June 2020 and moved to Lillestrøm in 2021.
He made his Eliteserien debut on May 16th, 2021 against Strømsgodset, then joined Slavia Prague on January 6th, 2023 in a three-year contract, which he then extended until December 31st, 2027 with a renewed deal on May 24th, 2025.
Ogbu featured for Nigeria’s youth national team at the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations and 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, after which he was invited for the 2025 Unity Cup and was part of the squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
