The Super Eagles, booked their place in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup after a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Zimbabwe national team at The Valley Stadium in London on Tuesday.
It was a memorable night for head coach Eric Chelle, who handed competitive debuts to eight players, with Femi Azeez emerging as the star of the show after scoring both goals on his international debut.

Here is how the new debutants performed:
Arthur Okonkwo – 6/10
The Arthur Okonkwo had a relatively quiet evening between the sticks but looked calm and composed whenever called upon.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper dealt comfortably with Zimbabwe’s limited attacking threat and marked his debut with a clean sheet.
Chibueze Oputa – 6/10
Chibueze Oputa impressed with a disciplined display at the heart of defence.
The Rangers of Enugu defender showed confidence in possession, made crucial interceptions, and handled Zimbabwe’s forwards well throughout the contest.
Obinna Igboke – 6/10
Starting at full-back, Obinna Igboke provided energy and balance on the flank.
He contributed defensively while also supporting attacks whenever Nigeria pushed forward.
Femi Azeez – 9/10
The standout performer of the night. Femi Azeez announced himself in style with two well-taken goals to secure Nigeria’s victory.
The Millwall winger caused constant problems with his pace, movement, and direct attacking play.
Rafiu Durosinmi – 6.2/10
Introduced in the second half, Rafiu Durosinmi added physical presence to the attack. Although he did not score, his movement and hold-up play helped Nigeria maintain pressure late in the game.
Tosin Oyedokun – 5.5/10
Tosin Oyedokun showed flashes of quality after coming on as a substitute.
The Ikorodu City player looked comfortable on the ball and contributed to Nigeria’s control of possession in midfield.
Owen Oseni – 5.5/10
The young forward, Owen Oseni, had limited time to influence proceedings but worked hard off the ball and showed willingness to press Zimbabwe’s defence. They Plymouth Argyle forward showed flashes and may be in contention for another appearance.
Aderemi Adeoye – 5/10
Aderemi Adeoye made a brief cameo appearance as the Ikorodu City FC player slotted comfortably into the setup as Nigeria closed out the victory professionally.
Nigeria’s early goal unsettled the Warriors of Zimbabwe as they struggled to find rhythm , with Zimbabwe creating a few half-chances.
The Super Eagles improved significantly after the break, dominating possession and controlling the tempo of the game.
The victory sends Nigeria into the Unity Cup final, where they are waiting for the winner of India vs Jamaica match as Nigeria bids to defend the Unity Cup won in 2025.
