The Nigeria Women Football League has officially announced Port Harcourt as the host city for the 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six Finals, marking the first time the season-ending women’s football championship will be staged in the Garden City.

Sports247 reports that the competition will take place from June 5 to June 14, 2026 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, where Nigeria’s top six women’s football clubs will battle for the league title.
Speaking on the development, NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi praised the Rivers State Government for its continuous support towards women’s football development.
“On behalf of the management of the NWFL, we are delighted to announce Port Harcourt as host of the 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six Finals,” she stated.
“The Rivers State Government has consistently demonstrated strong support for women’s football, and we are excited to return with our flagship competition.”
The tournament will feature the top three teams from both groups of the regular season competing in a round-robin format over nine days.
Qualified teams for the championship include defending champions Bayelsa Queens FC, Edo Queens FC, Rivers Angels FC, FC Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels FC.
The NWFL Premiership has witnessed different champions in recent seasons, with Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, and Edo Queens all lifting the title over the last five editions.
Shabi also urged participating clubs to maintain professionalism and comply with all competition guidelines ahead of the championship.
The Super Six tournament will determine Nigeria’s league champions and the country’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League and the 2027 FIFA Women’s Club Championship.
