Vice President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, has expressed confidence that Nigerian boxers will secure podium finishes at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Nigeria is expected to parade 10 boxers at the competition scheduled to hold from July 23 to August 3 in Glasgow.

“We are confident our boxers will win medals,” Imadu said.
According to the boxing federation vice president, the technical crew intends to ensure that only serious medal contenders make the final squad for the Games.
“Every boxer selected must be capable of reaching the podium,” he implied.
Imadu stressed that preparations and selection processes are being handled carefully to maximize Nigeria’s chances of success at the competition.
“We want a very competitive team,” he noted.
The administrator also expressed optimism that Nigeria’s boxing tradition and growing pool of talents can produce strong performances internationally.
“Nigeria has talented fighters capable of competing globally,” he added.
Team Nigeria continues intensifying preparations across several sports ahead of the Commonwealth Games as expectations gradually increase.
“The pressure for medals will always be high,” many sports observers believe.
Imadu remains convinced that proper preparation and discipline can help the boxing team achieve its objectives in Glasgow.
“Preparation and focus will be very important,” he stressed.
For the Nigeria Boxing Federation, the message is clear.
Only serious contenders will represent the country.
