England-based heavyweight boxer, David Adeleye is backing Britain’s Fabio Wardley to defeat former world champion, Daniel Dubois this weekend in London, because he wants a rematch with the British world title holder.
Sports247 reports that, rather than support fellow-Nigerian-born Dubois to emerge victorious, Adeleye is throwing his weight behind Wardley to keep his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) belt, so he can rematch for it.

Adeleye, who also fights as a British boxer, battled Wardley in Saudi Arabia in 2023, following a volatile build-up which saw both men brawling with each other at a media appearance, but the Nigerian-born pugilist eventually lost the fight.
Wardley got the victory in round seven, then went on to win the WBO belt two years later, leaving Adeleye to keeping hoping for a rematch, but he needs his conqueror to keep the title by beating Dubois and help him remain in line.
A report by UK’s SunSport added, “Wardley – who turned professional in 2016 after just four white collar bouts – capped his journey to the title last year. He beat Joseph Parker to win the WBO interim belt with an 11th-round stoppage in October.
“Wardley, 31, was elevated to the full world title a month later when Oleksandr Usyk, 39, vacated the crown. Adeleye, 29, meanwhile, is building himself back up following a points loss to Filip Hrgovic, 33, in Riyadh last August.
“He was dropped in round eight but nearly pulled off a dramatic turnaround just moments later after stunning Hrgovic with a barrage of left hooks. Adeleye has added the Croatian to his redemption list – where Wardley sits at the top.”
Adeleye told SunSport: “In that sense, 110 percent Fabio wins. Fabio has to make a defence. I’m here. Let’s go! And I get to right that wrong and win a world title at the same time.”
