Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli army is approaching the completion of its military campaign in the Gaza Strip following the killing of senior Hamas leaders.
Speaking during the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said Israel would continue targeting Palestinian faction leaders, stating: “We eliminated the number one in Hamas, (Haddad), and all the architects of the 7th October attack will be eliminated; we are very close to completing the mission.”
Netanyahu also addressed tensions with Iran, saying Israel is prepared for “every scenario” and remains in close coordination with the United States.
He announced plans to hold another phone call later on Sunday with US President Donald Trump, adding that communication between the two sides takes place regularly every few days.
“There are many possibilities regarding Iran, and we are prepared for every scenario,” Netanyahu said.
The remarks were delivered during a special Israeli government session marking what Israel refers to as “Jerusalem Day” at the Knesset Museum in occupied Jerusalem, according to Channel 14.
Israel commemorates Jerusalem Day annually to mark its occupation of East Jerusalem during the 1967 war and its subsequent annexation of the eastern part of the city.
