French president Emmanuel Macron was slapped in the face by his wife after she ‘found texts he sent to a famous actress’, it has been claimed.
A video widely circulated last year showed Brigette Macron appearing to strike the president in the face seconds before the couple left a government plane to begin official trip to Vietnam.
One source close to Macron told French media at the time that it was simply a brief episode of a married couple “bickering” – but in a new book, a Parisian magazine editor has made bombshell new allegations about how the argument started.
Florian Tardif, the political editor of Paris Match magazine, claims in his new book ‘A (Nearly) Perfect Couple’ that Brigitte Macron discovered a message sent to the Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani telling her she was ‘very beautiful’.
Mr Tardif said he has spoken to more than 70 sources to corroborate his account, including the French First Lady herself.
Speaking to RTL radio, he said: “The French president had a platonic love affair with the actress for several months.
“They had told me this repeatedly. The messages they showed me were quite advanced, of the style of ‘you are very beautiful’. These messages led to tensions that ended with the private quarrel becoming public.”
