After recounting his tales of heroism when he was woken up by his scared wife, George Kittle is being criticized by PETA for stepping into action against an arachnid.
Kittle took to social media on Wednesday to explain how he was woken up in the early morning hours by his wife, Claire, who was spooked by a sizeable spider.
‘At 4 am this morning, as I laid in a deep slumber, I was called to action by my wife who had discovered a spider the size of a half dollar in the bathroom,’ Kittle recalled.Â
‘Without hesitation I arose to combat the intruder. Claire handed me the slant board I’ve been using for rehab, and I immediately knew the spider had no chance. It took but 1 attempt to strike down my opponent.Â
‘I received hugs and kisses for my bravery and fell back asleep with confidence. Have a day gentlemen.’
This tale caught the attention of PETA, the animal rights organization, who took the chance to publicly shame and call out the 49ers tight end.

‘Spiders are tiny compared to the average human, let alone an NFL player, and have a lot more to fear from us than we do from them, so there’s no need for unnecessary roughness,’ PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange said in a statement.Â
‘PETA is urging George Kittle to drop the unsportsmanlike conduct and adopt a live and let live approach when it comes to uninvited arachnid guests.’Â
The organization even offered to send him a ‘humane bug catcher’ to prevent him from needing to kill any arachnids in the future.
‘PETA notes that spiders play a crucial role in their ecosystems — and that the vast majority are completely harmless to humans,’ PETA officials stated. ‘To gently encourage spiders in the home to move along, PETA recommends humane deterrents, such as peppermint oil.’
Kittle has been rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon during the NFC playoffs that will keep him out for at least a considerable portion of the 2026 season.Â
Kittle’s recovery from the injury is still ongoing and will likely mean he misses most of the upcoming season.
No timeline for his return has been set, leaving fans to wonder when he may appear again for the Niners.
