Youssef Chermiti has admitted that his first season at Rangers hasn’t gone to plan, but he has vowed to help the club in their bid to win the Scottish Premiership next term.
The 21-year-old moved to Ibrox from Everton for a club-record transfer fee of €8.6 million, however his debut campaign has been largely disappointing, despite an upturn in form since the beginning of 2026.
Chermiti has netted 12 goals in 40 games across all competitions so far this year, including a hat-trick against Hearts in February and a brace versus Celtic in March, but he has largely failed to live up to his hefty price tag since his arrival at Ibrox.
Despite this, rumours have indicated that he is on PSV Eindhoven’s transfer radar ahead of this summer, with the Eredivisie giants contemplating a possible bid as they look to strengthen their attacking roster.
However, Chermiti has now revealed that he wants to remain at Rangers and fight for the title next season.

Youssef Chermiti confirms Rangers stance
“We know we’ve lost four games in a row. We’re really sad about that. But I think that just gives us a fire in our belly for the next season,” Chermiti told reporters (via The Daily Record).
“Do things have to improve drastically next season? Yeah for sure because this season was like a failure for us. Obviously we need to improve and we’ll go again next season.”
He added: “I want to win the title. That’s what I’m thinking about for next season. Obviously the first few months in Scotland were a bit difficult for me. But I had some time to settle down.
“As I said in previous conferences, I feel more confident in the team and in the country as well. That’s helped me a lot. I think everyone gave me more confidence, and even on the pitch I feel more confident.
“As I said, this season has been sad for us. We had a goal and we didn’t get it, but this is football and we’ll go again next season. Our target now is Falkirk. We’re trying to finish the season well and we’re trying to win the game against Falkirk.”
