Nigeria’s latest star in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Isaac Odugbesan (aka Oba Femi) has come out with a heartwarming declaration that his ultimate ambition is to be a source of motivation for young talents across the world.

Sports247 reports that the former University of Lagos track and field athlete, who also set some shot put records during his days in USA’s National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), also wants to keep on making Nigeria proud.
He added during an interview on CNN’s ‘Africa Voices’ with Larry Maduro that he will keep on working hard and always try to give his very best, in order to remain a role model for the younger generation.
Oba Femi, who shot to global limelight when he pulled off a sensational win over American maverick wrestler, Brock Lesnar in under five minutes of their bout at WrestleMania 42, promised to always aim for greater height.
He pledged: “I will run as far as I can. I will represent Nigerians as much as they want. As far as they want to go, I will take them there. I want to be someone who makes my country proud all the time.”
While revealing how his experience in athletics and the tough days he faced while growing up helped in preparing him for the rigours of professional wrestling, ‘The Ruler’ flaunted his die-hard attributes and chipped in some popular Nigerian cliches to buttress his point.
“We have some challenges in Nigeria; but there are also many good things about our country. We must not focus on the negatives, though they may be more than the positives.
“We are doing well in music, where we have Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, 2 Baba and others. Now we have wrestling to make us proud, and I want to make it count.
“The best I can do now is to represent Nigeria and Africa well. I know we can get more of Oba Femi in Africa. It’s the same morals, the same toughness.
Naija no dey carry last,” said the towering grappler.
Oba Femi, who also showed off his training corner in WWE’s central gym, with its state of the art equipment, concluded with a strong hint that he will contribute in the discovery of fresh sports stars for Nigeria.
“I represent the never-say-die and resilient spirit of Nigeria. There are many talents sitting there who don’t get the kind of opportunities that they need.
“So, we have a duty to scout them. I just want to be that big picture of motivation for the young talents who are still growing. So that they can feel the way I felt when I was also growing,” he submitted.
