Nigerian Students Mobilised To Support Wrestling Team At African Championship in Egypt

A large number of Nigerian students have been mobilised to flock around the country’s wrestling contingent at the ongoing African Wrestling Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, Sports247 reports.

This was revealed by Nigeria’s envoy in the North African country, Ambassador Musa Dauda, who disclosed that officials at the embassy took it upon themselves to personally mobilise the students and other Nigerians to rally round their country’s wrestlers.

Dauda went on to reveal how awed he was by the performances of the country’s grapplers, who surprised him with their performances, even as he confessed that he never thought Nigeria had such quality wrestlers to count on.

He further noted that the Nigerian contingent stands a great chance of retaining the title it has won over the past 14 years, especially with the women always showing their supremacy, thereby gunning for a 15th African title.

Abdul averred, “This is the spirit of Nigeria. I’m extremely proud of what they have done. I never knew Nigeria had this force in wrestling. We have started mobilising the Nigerian and student community in Egypt, and we believe the support would be massive going into the crucial stages.”
