Rohl: Fernandez May Be Playing In Next Year’s Champions League

Rangers FC manager Danny Röhl has expressed optimism that Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez may be playing in the Champions League next year.

Recall that the Nigerian international has been a revelation for the club under Röhl, with his form drawing interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

However, in a chat with Daily Record, Röhl lauded Fernandez as a role model for development, having transitioned from League One to becoming a key player in the Scottish Premiership and the Nigerian national team.

He also stated that Fernandez’s quality may be on display in next year’s Champions League.

“In terms of Manny [Fernandez], he knows what he has here. He’s developed very quickly. We should not forget that one year ago he was playing in League One.

“Now he plays for a big club. And if everything goes well and we get what we want, maybe can play next year in the highest competition (Champions League).

“We want to develop them and give them opportunities here,” the 36-year-old concluded.
