A Nigerian professional wrestling promoter, Olusesan Olukoya has harped on the need for African stakeholders in the grapplers’ sport to collaborate among themselves and with experts across the world in order to get better.

Sports247 reports that Olukoya is of a view that African wrestling is already growing in leaps and bounds, but he reasoned that the sector could expand even further once all hands remain on deck for better days to come.
He added that the emergence of Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA) is a good sign of better days ahead, as the continent’s wrestlers and promoters continue in a rapid upwards surge, towards becoming a dominant force on the global stage.
Olukoya is happy to see events taking place in Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa and DR Congo DR, where wrestling promotions are attracting keen attention of the media, renowned wrestlers and international scouts.
“We are building a system that not only trains athletes, but also creates stars capable of competing anywhere in the world. Strategic partnerships with European and North American wrestling bodies are also opening doors for African athletes.
“(They are providing opportunities) to train and compete abroad. If African promotions continue to collaborate and maintain high production standards, the continent will not just participate in global wrestling … it will lead it,” Olukoya submitted.
