Hjulmand deal accelerates as United find their Casemiro replacement

Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand, with the Old Trafford side having earmarked the Denmark midfielder as the man they want to replace Casemiro, Fichajes reports.

Concluding a deal, though, is not forecast to be straightforward. Sporting have pointed to the player’s €80 million release clause as they figure it will take to prise him away from the Lisbon giants.

United are preparing to make a “significant financial effort” to beat Liverpool to the player.

Marcus Rashford: United hold firm as Barca make demand

Barcelona are still hopeful of signing Marcus Rashford but are continuing to demand a renogiation on the terms of the deal. Rashford’s one-year loan to the Camp Nou side included a purchase option for €30 million, but Fabrizio Romano is insistent that the Blaugrana want to restructure this deal.

He told his YouTube channel: “United say €30m, or the player comes back here and then we decide what to do, sell him, keep him, we will see. But at the moment, Manchester United want their full money by option. Barcelona have an agreement with the player, but not yet with United.”

Michael Carrick has not ruled out a return for Rashford to the Red Devils, stating this week: “I just think there’s decisions to be made in time, really, on certain things, and obviously Marcus is in that situation. But at this point in time, nothing’s been decided.

“And it will be, because it has to be at a certain point, but at this stage, there’s nothing to say.”

Ederson still appreciated by Red Devils

Romano also reported that Man Utd could move for Ederson, the Atalanta midfielder, whose transfer to Atletico Madrid has stalled.

He said: “Premier League clubs are also calling for him. So if Atalanta and Atletico Madrid cannot close the deal, keep an eye on the Premier League situation too. Manchester United were tracking him already when Ruben Amorim was the coach, and he has always been appreciated by people at the club.

“Let’s see if United decide to return. Ederson could be attractive because he is out of contract in 2027, he is not on a crazy salary, and financially he could be a very good package overall, with salary, commissions and transfer fee all considered.”

A €45m approach would see the Serie A giants sell.

Man Utd continue to follow Stiller

Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller continues to be a player of interest for Man Utd, with Christian Falk reporting that the Reds are still tracking the Germany international.

Transfer expert Falk describes the Red Devils interest in the player as “concrete”, having missed out on the player due to the tardy nature of their approach last summer. With Stiller boasting a release clause of €37.5 million currently, a deal should be relatively easy to conclude if United want to go ahead with it.

The German journalist denies that either Alphonso Davies or Maycon Cardozo will be on their way to Old Trafford this summer.

Garnacho feelings clear

Manchester United’s players have made their feelings towards Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho clear on social media.

Garnacho left Old Trafford last summer to move to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth €46m, with the Argentine having the reputation of being a disruptive figure behind the scenes.

Those feelings seemed to be confirmed after United’s 1-0 win in London, with Luka Shaw posting an image of him shoving Garnacho to the ground with the caption: “Important win”.

Bruno Fernandes posted a reply to Shaw’s image, saying: “That’s a violation!”
