Liam Rosenior is under huge pressure at Chelsea after their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat without scoring a goal.

The Blues fell to a 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday evening and they are now seven points behind Liverpool in fifth place, meaning they are extremely unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League unless Aston Villa win the Europa League.

The west London giants are also only three points clear of Fulham in 12th and with six losses in their last seven matches across all competitions, Rosenior’s position as head coach is in serious doubt.

Widespread reports have confirmed that Rosenior won’t be sacked if Chelsea fail to secure Champions League qualification, with a review of his position not expected to take place until 2027, but the Stamford Bridge hierarchy could be forced into a change this summer if their current slump continues.

Chelsea have spent close to €2 billion on transfers since BlueCo arrived in 2022, however they are yet to challenge for the Premier League title under their new owners, while they are currently 22 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Rosenior signed a six-and-a-half year contract upon his arrival at Chelsea in January, but a large section of the club’s fans are eager for him to be sacked due to their dismal recent form and it’s now reported that a managerial change could be on the cards this summer.

Chelsea eye Diego Simeone as Liam Rosenior replacement

Chelsea have prioritised youth in their player and managerial recruitment over the past few years, but Spanish outlet Fichajes report they are willing to go “all out” to appoint Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone this summer.

The Argentine has enjoyed an immensely successful 15-year spell with Atleti and he has guided them into the Champions League semi-finals this season following a mesmering win over Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Simeone has been linked with a Metropolitano Stadium exit for several years, but Chelsea are reportedly looking to finally tempt him away from Spain amid Rosenior’s tenuous position as head coach.

The Sun have confirmed that Simeone is the bookies’ favourite to replace Rosenior, while Nicolo Schira has also revealed that Chelsea are “leaning towards” sacking their current boss this summer.

The Englishman won six of his first seven matches in charge of the Stamford Bridge club, but their form has nosedived over the past month and Rosenior’s side have a crucial clash versus Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday before facing Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
