Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to sell club captain Cristian Romero on a permanent deal if they receive an offer worth between €60-65 million this summer.

The Argentina international has been a stalwart for Spurs since his arrival from Atalanta on an initial loan deal in 2021, but his long-term future at the club is in serious doubt ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Romero still has three years remaining on his current contract in north London, however the club’s hierarchy are willing to facilitate a major squad overhaul this summer and the centre-back is one of several big-name players who could depart.

That is according to a report from CaughtOffside, who claim that Tottenham have set their asking price for Romero at between €60-65m amid significant interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s side have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old for several months and they are expected to intensify their pursuit of his signature if Spurs suffer a shock relegation down to the Championship this season.

Tottenham are currently 18th in the Premier League table and 17th place West Ham United have the chance to extend their gap over their London rivals to four points if they beat Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Man Utd to challenge for Cristian Romero signing

In addition to Atletico Madrid, Romero has also been linked with a move to Man Utd and the Red Devils have reportedly identified him as an “attractive option” if he becomes available this summer.

The 13-time Premier League champions are set to prioritise the appointment of a new permanent head coach before facilitating any summer transfers, but Romero has emerged as a potential target for the upcoming window.

Matthijs de Ligt has been linked with an Old Trafford exit in recent months, while the club are understood to have held fresh talks with Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of a possible summer swoop.

Romero is also on their radar, although the Man Utd hierarchy may instead opt to prioritise the development of youngster Ayden Heaven, who impressed once again during their 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday night.

However, if the Red Devils decide to pursue a deal for Romero, it’s understood that Spurs are willing to listen to offers.
