Liam Rosenior’s private feelings on Alejandro Garnacho telling following Chelsea boss’ decision

Alejandro Garnacho’s first season at Chelsea has been an underwhelming one after completing a summer move from Manchester United

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior’s personal ‘reservations’ over Alejandro Garnacho puts more doubts on the winger’s future at Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

Garnacho has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge in his first season with the club. It has led to speculation that Chelsea could look to cash in on the 31-year-old over the next few months. when the transfer window opens.

According to The Sun, Rosenior has ‘reservations’ about Garnacho. It has led to the winger making just four league starts for Chelsea since the manager’s arrival at the start of January, when he replaced the outgoing Enzo Maresca.

It is added that the Blues will be open to selling Garnacho in the summer, just 12 months on from his £40million move from Manchester United.

The Argentine has scored eight times in all competitions for Chelsea this season, but just one of those goals has come in the Premier League.

Rosenior has opted to play Pedro Neto ahead of Garnacho in the starting line-up the majority of the time, having decided the Portuguese talent from Wolves is Chelsea’s first-choice left-winger.

Jamie Gittens’ return from injury, whenever that may be, will also provide more competition on the left wing.

Despite his underwhelming season, Garnacho’s transfer value has actually increased.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, he is now valued at £78.5million, almost double what Chelsea paid for him, although it seems unlikely that the club will get a fee anywhere near that figure if they are to sell.

Speaking about Garnacho last month, Rosenior said: “He’s got huge ability and potential.

“For any young player, the biggest thing to be challenged on is consistency.

“But he’s shown really good signs. Not just in training, but in meetings, that he’s on a really good track.”

Garnacho will come up against his former club when Chelsea host Manchester United in the late kick-off. The Blues fell to a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture back in September with Garnacho an unused substitute for the match.
