Spanish football has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel, who passed away at the age of 30 after suffering a serious injury during his side’s match against FC Andorra.

The Spanish forward died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after spending hours in hospital following a frightening collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during Monday’s Segunda División encounter at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López.

The incident occurred in the closing stages of the match when De Miguel was chasing a long ball and Owono rushed out of his goal to intervene. The two players collided heavily, with the Tenerife striker taking a severe blow to the chest before collapsing on the pitch.

Players from both teams immediately called for medical assistance as De Miguel remained motionless on the ground. Medical personnel rushed onto the pitch to attend to the 30-year-old before he was eventually taken to hospital by ambulance.

According to reports, De Miguel suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest during the incident and was resuscitated by emergency medical personnel. He was subsequently admitted to the intensive care unit at the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Tenerife.

The club initially confirmed that the striker was in a stable condition despite the seriousness of his situation. However, his condition later deteriorated, with Tenerife announcing that he had suffered a neurological worsening.

Sadly, the club confirmed his death early on Tuesday morning, bringing a heartbreaking end to a frightening sequence of events that had left players, supporters and the wider Spanish football community hoping for his recovery.

In an emotional statement, CD Tenerife announced the passing of their player, expressing deep sadness and extending their support to his grieving family, friends and everyone connected to the club.

The incident also brought Monday’s encounter to an abrupt end. With the score level at 2-2, the referee eventually abandoned the match in the 108th minute to allow medical personnel to attend to De Miguel. Owono was shown a straight red card following the collision.
