Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak admits team is 'thinking about' Fernando Mendoza as he teases huge QB switch after latest loss

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak has seemingly opened the door for a potential quarterback change following their fourth consecutive defeat of the season.

The Raiders suffered a 35-21 loss to the Rams on Sunday, leading to fans calling for No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza to replace veteran star Kirk Cousins.

Following the defeat, Kubiak offered those fans a glimmer of hope after admitting that the franchise will be evaluating ‘everything’ ahead of their next game.

‘We have to go watch the film,’ Kubiak told reporters on Sunday afternoon.

‘I think at this point, we’re thinking about everything to fix our problems, how to fix our issues in the red zone, in the third quarter, personnel [and] scheme.’

‘We’ve got to talk about all of it,’ the Raiders head coach added.

Meanwhile, Cousins, who signed with Las Vegas back in April, admitted that he would be happy to step aside if that were to help turn their form around.

‘I want the football team to have the best chance to win games,’ Cousins said.

‘[During] the first OTA [practice], if that had become apparent, I would’ve been the first one to say, ‘Yeah, you can’t play me.”

Despite their current slide, Cousins actually leads the NFL with 16 passing touchdowns this season, racking up 1,877 yards and five interceptions.

Against the Rams, the veteran overcame a shaky start to throw for 295 yards and two scores, despite being pressured 19 times by the Rams defensive front.

Mendoza, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, has made just one brief appearance during his rookie campaign thus far.

The top pick completed six of his eight pass attempts for 48 yards during a fourth-quarter cameo in a Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots.

However, the Raiders’ woes extend far beyond the quarterback position, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. They surrendered 386 total yards on Sunday.
