FIFA Approves Normalisation Committee to Manage Nigerian Football

The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to manage the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until fresh elections are held.

The Bureau of the FIFA Council gave the approval on Thursday, October 22, pending the election of a new NFF Executive Committee.

In a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme MON, FIFA said the committee would have a suitable number of members to be jointly appointed by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The letter stated that the appointments would be made as soon as possible.

The committee will remain in charge until it completes its duties, but its tenure must not go beyond May 31, 2027.

FIFA also stated that members of the Normalisation Committee will not be allowed to contest any position in the next NFF elections.

Meanwhile, the NFF Secretariat will continue to handle the organisation’s daily activities and the administration of Nigerian football until the committee is appointed.
