Australian sprint champion Jake Doran has been charged with a child sex offence and provisionally banned from athletics.
The 26-year-old, who represented Australia at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games, was arrested by Townsville detectives on October 13.
Queensland Police said he faces one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16 (indecent film, etc.).
Police said their investigation relates to alleged offending between January 2025 and September 2026.
Doran, from Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island, was granted bail and is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on November 5. Investigations remain ongoing.
Australian Athletics confirmed it had imposed restrictions preventing him from taking part in training or attending events at any level of the sport.

‘Australian Athletics is aware that an athlete has been charged with a serious offence in Townsville,’ it said in a statement.
‘Based on information provided to Australian Athletics, the organisation has imposed a provisional action on the athlete, prohibiting him from attending club, member association or Australian Athletics events, as well as banning him from participating in athletics training.
‘The safety and wellbeing of all participants in our sport is paramount, and we take all allegations of this nature very seriously,’ the spokesperson said.
‘As the matter is now a police matter, Australian Athletics will not be making any further comment.’
Doran works in business development at TAFE Queensland and had been training athletes in Townsville.
His Instagram account has been deleted, and his athlete profile is no longer available on the Australian Athletics website.
Born in Townsville, Doran attended Townsville Grammar School and emerged as one of Australia’s most promising junior sprinters.
He clocked 10.15 seconds in Finland in July 2018 to break the Australian under-20 100m record before competing at that year’s World U20 Championships in Tampere.
His breakthrough senior national title came in 2022 when he won the Australian 100m championship in a wind-assisted 10.05 seconds.
That performance helped launch a season in which he represented Australia at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Doran reached the 100m semi-finals in Birmingham, having missed the opportunity to compete at the Tokyo Olympics the previous year due to injury.
He added the Australian 200m title in 2023 and returned to the World Championships in Budapest later that year.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Queensland Athletics for comment.
