Mike Tyson has claimed he was saved by a powerful psychedelic from the toxin of a toad after suffering near-fatal drug overdoses.
The legendary boxer, 60, opened up on the terrifying health scares in a new Netflix docuseries, TYSON.
The former heavyweight champion detailed how he nearly died after battling alcohol and drug addiction, claiming: ‘When I think about a low point, I think about this — OD’ing. I’m bleeding out, my nose is bleeding and I’m hysterical. I’m sweating.
‘I OD’d, I’ve done it plenty of times but this one was a little more extreme than others.’
But Tyson survived after a shaman gave him 5-MeO-DMT, a substance found in the secretion of the Bofu alvarius toad. Early studies suggest it could help treat anxiety and depression.
The boxer claimed he has used the psychedelic ‘over 100 times’ and it helped him come off cocaine and alcohol.

A shaman gave him 5-MeO-DMT, a substance found in the secretion of the Bofu Alvarius toad
‘At the time we had this friend, he knew a shaman who does this thing called 5-MeO-DMT, it comes from the Bufo alvarius toad,’ his third wife, Lakiha ‘Kiki’ Spicer, explained.
‘Whatever kind of addictions or things that you’re going through, it helps level them in your mind.’
According to the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics, 5-MeO-DMT – which is also known as ‘Bufo’ or ‘God molecule’ or ‘The Toad’ – is ‘usually inhaled through vaporizing or snorting.’
The drug, which is illegal to use recreationally in the United States, ‘induces feelings of awe, visual and auditory hallucinations, and other sensations’ with effects ‘starting just a few seconds after ingestion and lasting about twenty to thirty minutes.’
In the new series, the 60-year-old is filmed smoking the drug at a treatment center.
‘It blew my mind. I’ve done it over 100 times,’ Tyson claimed. ‘Any time I have to make a big decision about anything, I take the toad. I haven’t used cocaine and drink since.’
