The president of Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has charged the country’s grapplers to remain commited, focused and determined at their training camp in the United States of America, ahead of this year’s global contest.
Sports247 reports that Adewale’s message was delivered to the team by Honourable Ajibola Adetula, in order to boost their morale and remind them of their duties for Nigeria, heading into the 2026 World Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Adetula, who earlier held an Independence Day engagement with some other wrestlers at one of the federation’s camps in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, acknowledged the importance of giving the same message to those currently preparing outside the country.
While noting that they are all an integral part of Nigeria’s preparations for the global championship, Adetula affirmed that the NWF is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for the championship and urged the grapplers to represent their country with dignity.
He further assured that the federation will continue to encourage and support the wrestlers, then stressed that patriotism and national identity are the values they need in order to give their best, while proudly flying Nigeria’s flag at the championship.
Adetula added, “On behalf of the President, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, I want to say happy Independence to you. He appreciates each of you for the sacrifices, commitment, and seriousness you have shown in training.
“You have a responsibility to represent Nigeria with pride and give your very best whenever you step on the mat. Keep working hard, stay focused, and remain determined as we approach the World Championships.
“Your commitment to the country remains a source of motivation as you prepare to compete in Astana. You are an important part of the plans and aspirations of the NWF Board. We recognise your efforts and will continue to provide the encouragement and support you need to excel.”
