Al-Nassr superstar Joao Felix is keen to return to Europe in the near future, and he has his heart set on a move back to Barcelona.
With Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly no longer in the Portugal frame, his Al-Nassr teammate looks finally set to become the face of his country. Ever since his controversial move to Saudi Arabia last year, when he snubbed boyhood club Benfica, Felix has been playing at an elite level.
The 26-year-old was named the Saudi Pro League’s Player of the Season after firing Al-Nassr to the title with 20 goals and 14 assists. All told, Felix bagged 26 goals and 19 assists across all competitions in 2025/26.
His red-hot form has continued this term. At club level, he has scored four goals and provided three assists in eight matches, while he has found the back of the net in each of Portugal’s three games so far in this international break.
Felix, once billed as his country’s biggest talent since Ronaldo, may finally be living up to the hype – of course, with the caveat that he is only playing in the Saudi Pro League. His stint in the Middle East seems to have helped him rediscover his mojo, and he is ready to return to Europe.
Felix desperate to rejoin Barcelona
Last week, Felix admitted as much. Although he insisted that he was content in Riyadh, he made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League again. “I’m very happy at Al Nassr. This will be my second year,” he said.
“I’ll be 27 at the end of the season. I’m planning to return to Europe, though perhaps not immediately. I don’t know if it will be at the end of this season or the end of next, but I’m eager to return to Europe, to play in the Champions League again, and to compete there again.
“It’s always different. Playing in Europe, playing in the Champions League, playing against the best teams in the world gives you extra motivation, and obviously, that’s what I’m thinking about.”
According to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, Felix really wants to re-join Barcelona, having previously made 44 appearances while on loan at the Catalan club from Atletico Madrid in 2023/24.
“Joao Felix would love to return to Barça, but there’s no room for him there,” Moretto told Radio MARCA. The journalist believes that the Portugal international would be an ideal fit for the LaLiga champions.
“Because of Joao Felix’s playing style, his physical build, his technical ability, and his knowledge of LaLiga, he’s a great fit in Spain, and even more so at Barca,” Moretto explained.
At this stage, however, that’s all it is. There is interest from the player and an acknowledgement that he would be a good fit, but that doesn’t mean that Barcelona will look to re-sign him in 2027. “For now, there’s nothing more than this,” Moretto emphasised.
