Caitlin Clark booed over controversial College GameDay pick as she appears on ESPN show just days after Fever's devastating playoff loss

Caitlin Clark received a frosty reception from her former college to one of her College GameDay picks on Saturday.

The WNBA superstar appeared as the guest picker on the popular ESPN program just two days after the Indiana Fever crashed out of the playoffs in the opening round at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces.

College GameDay, hosted by Pat McAfee and co., rolled into Iowa City this week, the home of Clark’s college team – the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Many would have expected Clark to have received a warm welcome on her former home turf but the basketball star found herself being shockingly booed.

Up first on the slate of picks for the panelists was the clash between West Virginia and Iowa State.

The Iowa State Cyclones are the fierce rivals of Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes with the two schools facing off in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.

Given their fierce rivalry, Clark was expected to pick against the Cyclones, opting for West Virginia.

However, the point guard surprisingly backed Iowa State, resulting in the Hawkeye home crowd booing their former star.

Clark did redeem herself, however, when it came to the picks between the Hawkeyes and Ohio State.

Unlike Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit and McAfee, who chose the No. 5 Buckeyes, Clark stayed loyal to the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes are currently second in the Big Ten, sitting at 4-0 and ranked 14th in the college football rankings.

Clark’s appearance on College GameDay came just days after the Fever’s crushing playoff defeat against the Aces.

Clark, who was left bloodied in the clash, was unable to prevent her team from falling to a 94-83 defeat as A’ja Wilson took the defending champions into the semifinals.

Led by Wilson and head coach Becky Hammon, the Las Vegas Aces have triumphed in three of the past four WNBA seasons.
