Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser Kabiru Suleiman Dogo has promised to address his side’s growing goal-scoring problems while appealing to supporters to remain patient as the NPFL season gathers momentum.
Sports247 reports that the Ikon Allah Boys were held to another frustrating home draw at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, playing out a goalless stalemate with Warri Wolves in their EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 5 encounter.
Tornadoes created several opportunities in both halves but repeatedly failed to convert their chances against a resilient Warri Wolves side, leaving Dogo visibly frustrated after the final whistle.
The coach admitted that scoring has become a concern after a promising start to the campaign.
“We scored four goals in our first two opening matches against Enyimba and Kano Pillars, making us believe we wouldn’t encounter goal-scoring challenges. But now, we have managed to score just once in three games, which is not encouraging.”
Dogo, however, believes identifying the problem is the first step towards solving it and assured supporters that the technical crew would work collectively to improve the team’s attacking output.
“Since we have identified the challenge, we will work collectively as a team to solve the goal-scoring problem.”
The Tornadoes boss also acknowledged the frustration among the club’s supporters but urged them to exercise patience, particularly with the young players in the squad.
“We understand the frustration of our supporters but equally call on them to exercise a little more patience with the team so as not to subject the young players in the team to too much pressure.”
With only five matches played, Dogo believes there remains plenty of time for the team to turn things around.
“This is just week five, with 33 more matches to play out of 38,” he noted, stressing that there is still significant room for improvement.
Tornadoes also felt aggrieved by some refereeing decisions during the encounter, with the hosts appealing unsuccessfully for penalties, including an incident involving John Zakka, who was brought down inside the area in the first half.
The goalless draw leaves Niger Tornadoes with five points from five matches.
Dogo now has his sights set on the next challenge, with the Ikon Allah Boys scheduled to travel to Lafia to face North-Central neighbours Nasarawa United in Matchday 6.
For Tornadoes, the message from their coach is clear: the scoring problem has been identified, and the work to fix it starts now.
