Nigeria A will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the Nigeria Cricket Federation Quadrangular T20 Series when they face Ghana this evening at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos.
The game is scheduled for 6:30 PM Nigerian time, with Nigeria A entering the contest after two impressive victories in their opening matches.
Nigeria A began the competition with a 33-run victory over Sierra Leone on Monday before producing another strong performance against the senior Nigerian team yesterday, 22nd.
In that meeting, Nigeria A posted 139 for 8 in their 20 overs and went on to restrict Nigeria to 120 for 7, securing a 19-run victory. Sylvester Okpe was named Player of the Match after contributing with both bat and ball.
The two wins have put Nigeria A in a strong position early in the four-team competition.
Ghana, however, will be hoping to change their fortunes after a difficult opening two matches. They lost by eight wickets to Nigeria on Monday before suffering another defeat against Sierra Leone on Tuesday.
Sierra Leone chased down Ghana’s 85 for 8 with six wickets and 11 balls to spare, leaving Ghana still searching for their first win of the tournament.
That makes today’s meeting an important one for both teams, although they come into the game with very different starts to the competition.
For Nigeria A, another victory would extend their unbeaten run and further strengthen their position in the tournament. It would also give the players another opportunity to test themselves against international opposition.
Ghana, meanwhile, will need a response if they are to get their campaign back on track.
With Nigeria A unbeaten and Ghana still without a win, today’s encounter could provide another interesting test for the Nigerian side as the quadrangular series continues in Lagos.
