Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffery Buter has praised his players for their impressive response following their 3-0 derby victory over Inter Lagos, Completesports.com reports.
The NPFL newcomers secured their first win of the 2026/27 season with a convincing victory over Inter Lagos in a Matchday 3 encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Sunday.
Sodiq Ayoade, Aliyu Baba and Valentine Ogwu were on target as Sporting Lagos claimed all three points in emphatic fashion.
Buter Lauds Derby Victory
Buter was delighted with his team’s performance, describing the victory as the perfect response to their opening-day defeat to Doma United.

“I feel ecstatic. Credit to the players; they put in a lot of work coming into the game,” Buter told the club’s media.
“We knew we hadn’t beaten them since inception, so it wasn’t just another game for us. After losing the first game of the season, we had to bounce back.
“What a way to respond. Kudos to the team.”
Sporting Lagos will look to build on the victory when they host struggling Abia Warriors in their next league fixture this weekend.
