Fulham of England defender Calvin Bassey has revealed three factors that have made it possible for him to perform well as captain of the side so far this season, Sports247 reports.
As Bassey heads into his fourth match as The Cottagers’ skipper in the English Premier League, he looked at the years he has spent with the team, his ability to relate well with his colleagues, and his position as a centre-back as factors that make him their ideal captain.

The Super Eagles’ stopper, who has also previously played for Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and Ajax Amsterdam of the Netherlands, also admitted that he is enjoying a rare privilege as leader of the squad.
Bassey, who was handed the band after The Cottagers’ regular skipper, Tom Cairney, copped an injury, added that his role as a central defender is also helping him to coordinate the team from the back.
While acknowledging that it is a huge responsibility being captain of the London-based team, Bassey disclosed that he is enjoying every minute of it and thanked his teammates for supporting him thus far.
He quickly interjected that he will not let the band get into his head and promised to stay humble, while marshalling his teammates to get a better run this season in the EPL.
“It’s a privilege. Being able to captain this club is unbelievable. Going into my fourth season, I know the boys and get on with everyone. So, I just be myself and try to help everyone.
“Leading comes naturally because of the position I play, being able to see everything and having to communicate as a centre-half,” said the product of Leicester City.
