A teenage Aussie golf sensation remains on life support almost two weeks after she suffered a catastrophic brain haemorrhage.
Jessica Bang, 18, was in Thailand preparing for an upcoming tournament when she suddenly collapsed earlier this month.
She was rushed to Bangkok’s Synphat Ramintra Hospital, where she underwent emergency brain surgery and currently remains on life support in ICU.
Loved ones hope to repatriate Bang back to Australia but face mounting medical and hospital bills.
‘Her family is wanting to take her back home to be surrounded by her loved ones and community as she navigates recovery,’ a fundraiser set up by Bang’s cousins states.
‘Every donation made will be contributed to her overwhelming medical bills and repatriation back home which will need to be on a special plane with built in ICU equipment.’
Born in South Korea, Bang became an Australian citizen when she turned 18.
‘She chose Australian citizenship, which unfortunately made her Korean residency/status and travel insurance situation quite complicated,’ her uncle Jacob Kang said.

‘As a result, her medical treatment and related expenses are becoming a huge financial burden for the family.’
More than $25,000 has been raised within two days.Β
Affectionately known as Rookie Bang, the rising star only turned professional in November.
Three months later, she won the Ford NSW Regional Championship in the Southern Highlands, where she blasted an 8-under-par 65 in the final round to set a new course record.
It was just her fifth professional tournament, where her mother acted as her caddie.
Golf NSW hailed the promising star at the time as ‘something special’.
‘I’m so happy, I can’t even put it into words,’ Bang said after the five-shot win.
‘It still doesn’t feel real yet. I did not expect this at all – a big surprise.’

Bang has been playing golf for eight years and recently qualified to start her rookie season in the both Australian and Korean ladies golf association tours.
She splits her time between South Korea and Sydney.Β
‘We ask that you keep Jessica and her family in your thoughts and prayers,’ her cousins wrote.
Australian Golf Digest was among those to rally around the teen.
‘The thoughts of the entire Australian golf community are with Jessica Bang and her family,’ it wrote.
