Chinyere Mercy Kalu Joins Badalona as Nigerian Midfielder Begins New Chapter in Liga F

Nigerian midfielder Chinyere Mercy Kalu has completed her move to Spanish women’s side FC Badalona, leaving Levante UD to begin a new chapter in Spain’s topflight.

Kalu, who was born in Benue on October 23, 2005, is a defensive midfielder and has represented Nigeria at youth international level. Liga F’s official player database lists her as a Nigerian midfielder standing 1.67m tall.

The 20-year-old spent the 2025/26 season with Levante, making three Liga F appearances and recording 104 minutes of league action. She also featured for Levante’s B team during the campaign.

Kalu previously played for Real Betis, where she made nine Liga F appearances during the 2024/25 season before moving to Levante. Her development in Spanish football has given her valuable experience at the highest level of women’s football in the country.

Her move to Badalona now presents another opportunity to establish herself in Liga F, with the club preparing for another campaign among Spain’s elite women’s teams.

Badalona’s squad already lists Kalu among its midfield options ahead of the new season, confirming her arrival at the club.

For Kalu, the transfer represents another important step in her European career. After spells with Nasarawa Amazons, Real Betis and Levante, the Nigerian youngster will now look to earn regular playing time, continue her development and make her mark with Badalona.

With her versatility and experience in Spanish football already growing, Kalu will be hoping that this new chapter provides the platform to establish herself as a regular at the top level and strengthen her credentials for future opportunities with Nigeria.
