Former Super Eagles’ striker, Daniel ‘The Bull’ Amokachi has come out with a declaration that any youngster who wants to make it big in the round leather game must know that ‘every great football career begins with opportunity, guidance and belief.’
Amokachi, who played for Club Brugge of Belgium, Besiktas of Turkey and Everton of England during his active days, made the declaration while being unveiled as the ambassador for this year’s SpringSoca United Academy Mainland Summer Camp, tagged ‘Legends Meet Future Stars 2.0.’
While shedding light on what paticipants should expect during the weeklong programme, which is billed to hold from this Monday until next Sunday, August 16th at Legacy Pitch of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere, ‘Amo-Taxi’ said it is another effort at nurturing the next generation of football talents.
Organisers added that the week-long football camp will attract hundreds of young footballers from across Nigeria, providing them with a unique platform to develop their technical ability, tactical understanding, physical fitness and mental resilience under the guidance of experienced coaches.
The project’s promotional statement added, “For decades, Nigeria has produced exceptional footballers who have thrilled audiences across Africa and the world. Yet every international star once began as a young player searching for an opportunity to learn, improve and be seen.
“That philosophy remains at the heart of the Springsoca United Summer Camp. The programme has been carefully designed to provide aspiring footballers with an environment where technical excellence, tactical intelligence, discipline and character development receive equal attention.
“Young players will participate in elite coaching sessions, competitive matches, fitness and conditioning programmes, leadership workshops and educational seminars aimed at preparing them for the demands of modern football, with Daniel Amokachi serving as the official Camp Ambassador.
“Participants will enjoy an unforgettable learning experience from one of Africa’s most celebrated football icons, whose illustrious career includes winning the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, representing Nigeria at two FIFA World Cups, and first Nigerian to win Olympic Gold Medals in Atlanta 96.
“The camp represents far more than football training. It is a development programme that combines elite coaching with leadership education, discipline, teamwork, respect, nutrition, sports psychology and equipping young athletes with the tools required to succeed both on and off the pitch.”
