Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi found the net as Fulham rounded off their pre-season preparations with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Portuguese side Farense on Saturday.
Iwobi converted from the penalty spot as Marco Silva’s side recovered from a first-half setback to finish their training camp in Portugal on a winning note.
Fulham were forced to chase the game after Farense took the lead before the break, but the Premier League side returned from the interval with greater intensity and began to turn the pressure on their opponents.
Their persistence was rewarded when Emile Smith Rowe was brought down inside the Farense penalty area, giving Fulham a golden opportunity to draw level.
Iwobi stepped forward and showed nerves of steel, calmly sending the resulting spot-kick into the corner of the net and leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The equaliser changed the complexion of the contest, with Fulham growing increasingly dangerous as they searched for the decisive goal.
Their late pressure finally paid off in the 89th minute.
Brazilian forward Rodrigo Muniz kept his composure to fire home from another penalty after Josh King was fouled inside the box, completing Fulham’s comeback and sealing a morale-boosting victory.
For Iwobi, the goal provides another positive moment ahead of the new Premier League season and underlines his importance to Silva’s plans.
The Nigeria international enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign, scoring four goals and registering three assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
His consistency was one of the positives for Fulham despite their failure to secure European football.
