Real Madrid are poised to hold a new round of contract talks with Vinicius Junior in the week ahead in a bid to resolve a brewing crisis at the Bernabeu.

Vini Jr’s current deal expires next summer, meaning that from January he will be able to hold direct negotiations with rival clubs to sign a pre-contract agreement before leaving as a free agent in 2027.

This situation puts his immediate future under question, too. With time running out on his deal, this summer could be the last chance Real Madrid can sell the former Flamengo star to receive a fee for the player.

Interest in Vini Jr is significant, too. Arsenal are ready to break the bank to sign the Real Madrid player if he becomes available, FootballTransfers has revealed.

Real Madrid can put the situation to bed by having Vini sign a new contract, and while reports vary wildly as to how close this is, they are ready to open negotiations again with the player this week, Sky Sports News reports.

Los Blancos have set themselves the objective of agreeing a new long-term deal with the Brazil attacker. In particular, manager Jose Mourinho wants to retain the player, having made him part of his untouchable six.

Real Madrid’s asking price

In the meantime, if Real Madrid are to sell the 26-year-old, it will be for an enormous fee.

According to Sport, Jose Mourinho’s side have put a price tag of €160 million, including bonuses, on the player.

It adds: “Below that figure, the club will not even sit down to negotiate.”

The Spanish source adds that Real Madrid will seriously consider a sale if talks this week are unsuccessful.

FootballTransfers understands that the Gunners will not allow either the player’s transfer fee or wage demands to get in the way should he intimate that he is interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Diomande deal does not depend on Vini Jr

The Bernabeu side are also closing in on a historic deal to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

Although this operation is forecast to cost more than €100m, the assurance from Sky Sports is that Real Madrid ideally want both players in their squad.

PSG have issued an angry statement in response to Los Blancos’ actions in the transfer race, which the Spanish club look increasingly likely to secure. Instead, they are moving for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool were all strongly interested in Diomande, but have long since been pushed out of the race.

Real Madrid closing in on a dream summer

Real Madrid are in the midst of a spectacular summer that has already seen them sign Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate.

They are also hotly pursuing a move for Man City midfielder Rodri, who is pushing to return to his homeland.

Securing Vini Jr’s future would complete a dream transfer window for Mourinho.
