A pair of Tour de France spectators were embroiled in an astonishing fight while cars whizzed perilously close by.
A video of the incident on the climb on the Grande Boucle has gone viral which shows the duo trading blows in the middle of the road during the famous cycling race.
It is not known what sparked the disagreement but an elderly gentleman with grey hair and a white t-shirt could be seen slapping another man dressed in lycra at the beginning of the two-minute clip.
Parts of the exchange are obscured by the cars driving along the narrow road, but the man in lycra could be seen landing a huge haymaker that led to his foe almost being knocked off his feet.

The man in white could then be seen stumbling around, clearly concussed, while onlookers attempted to defuse the violence.
Such incidents are incredibly rare at the Tour de France and left many fans shocked on social media.
But there were those who saw the funny side of the drama.
‘Imagine the shame of ending life by getting run over by a giant hotdog,’ mused one fan.
‘Kept waiting for him to tumble backwards over the guardrail,’ a second said. ‘Missed opportunity.’
Another user wrote: ‘Someone forgot to tell the white hair dude that at certain age you MUST know how to pick up your fights.’
