‘I Let My Legs Do the Talking’ — Kanyinsola Ajayi Reveals Formula Behind London Diamond League Triumph

Nigerian sprint sensation Kanyinsola Ajayi has revealed the winning formula behind his outstanding run of form, crediting consistency, disciplined recovery and healthy living after claiming victory in the men’s 100 metres at the 2026 London Diamond League.

The 21-year-old powered to a sensational 9.84 seconds, defeating reigning world champion Oblique Seville in one of the fastest races of the season to further establish himself among the world’s elite sprinters.

While the London triumph marked another major milestone in his breakout campaign, Ajayi insists his greatest source of pride is the consistency he has shown by repeatedly dipping below the coveted 10-second barrier.

“The biggest thing for me is consistency. Running under 10 seconds consistently shows that I’m doing the right things and moving in the right direction,” Ajayi said.

The Nigerian star explained that his performances are the result of meticulous preparation rather than natural speed alone. He emphasized that elite sprinting is won as much off the track as it is on it, with recovery playing a crucial role in sustaining top-level performances throughout the season.

“Recovery is very important. Eating well, resting properly and sticking to the right routines have made a huge difference. I just stay focused and trust the process,” he added.

Ajayi also revealed that he prefers to let his performances speak louder than words, choosing to stay away from bold pre-race predictions.

“I don’t like talking too much. I’d rather my performances on the track do the talking for me,” he said.

His victory in London is the latest highlight of a remarkable breakthrough season that has seen him cement his place among the world’s fastest men while strengthening his credentials as a genuine medal contender heading into the sport’s biggest championships.

Defeating a field packed with world-class sprinters is another statement of intent from the Nigerian, whose rapid rise is rekindling hopes of the country returning to the forefront of global sprinting.

With every race, Ajayi continues to combine breathtaking speed with remarkable consistency, qualities that have made him one of the most exciting athletes on the international circuit.
