Oyedepo stated this while delivering a sermon at Canaan Land, in Ota, Ogun, where the congregation gathered for a service titled: ‘ Breaking the Curses of Life’.
The clergy emphasised that obtaining the card is a civic responsibility, stressing that members must not neglect their right to participate in shaping the nation’s future. Watch video here
According to him, PVC empowers citizens to decide who governs them, and he insists that no one should be disenfranchised in the coming general elections.
Oyedepo reminded his church members that their votes carried a lot of weight and therefore urged them to prepare early, rather than wait until the election season nears.
According to him, political leadership influences national destiny, and Christians must not remain passive when opportunities to choose leaders arise.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration by two weeks.
The exercise, which was earlier scheduled to end on July 10, will now close on Friday, July 24, 2026.
The National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, disclosed this on Friday night in Abuja.
Haruna said the decision followed a review of the exercise and feedback received from INEC state offices, political parties, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
According to him, the CVR, which began on August 18, 2025, was extended to give eligible Nigerians who had yet to register another opportunity to do so ahead of future electoral activities.
The commission said the extension reflected its commitment to ensuring that every eligible Nigerian had a fair and reasonable chance to be captured in the Register of Voters.
