Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who represents Ekiti North, has said he personally knows the woman who accused Professor Abayomi Fasina of sexual harassment and believes her complaint deserves proper investigation.
In a video shared by AIT News, Fasuyi made the statement during a Senate plenary while lawmakers considered Fasina’s confirmation as an ambassador despite the allegations against him.ѕєє тнє ν!∂єσ нєяє
According to the senator, the Federal University of Technology, Oye-Ekiti, where Fasina served as Vice-Chancellor, is located in his constituency. He said the case is well known across Ekiti North and has generated widespread public attention.
Fasuyi explained that the woman had approached him personally and shared her account of what happened. He expressed concern that she had not received justice and warned that confirming Fasina without further examination of the allegations could leave many people in Ekiti dissatisfied.
He described sexual harassment as a serious issue that should not be ignored or dismissed. The senator urged the Senate to handle the matter with caution instead of rushing the confirmation process.
To ensure fairness, Fasuyi proposed that the Senate Committee on Rules and Business investigate the allegations. He also suggested that the committee could contact the woman directly to hear her side of the story before any final decision is made.
In his words, “I know the woman in question, the woman approached me and told me everything that happened, but this woman didn’t get judgement.”
